Federation of European Microbiological Societies is a federation that connects microbiological societies and researchers across Europe and beyond, supporting research, education, public engagement, business, and policy within the scientific community. The organization plays a vital role in strengthening collaboration and advancing microbiology through journals, grants, networking, and international congresses.
The objective of this project was to create a clean, minimal, and professional identity that reflects both scientific precision and collective unity . The core concept is built around a pentagon structure representing the five pillars of FEMS: Research, Education, Public Engagement, Business, and Policy. Within this geometric framework, the letter F symbolizes Federation, while a subtle microscope form is embedded into the mark, acknowledging the foundation of microbiological discovery.
A structured grid system ensures balance and consistency, reinforcing credibility and clarity across applications . The color palette draws from earth and nature, combining deep green, warm sand, charcoal, and white to communicate growth, knowledge, and environmental awareness . Diatom inspired patterns extend the visual language, creating a recognizable and scalable system that works seamlessly across digital platforms, publications, and event materials .
